O projeto Estimativa de esforço de projetos de software com técnicas de inteligência computacional e estatística está adquirindo material de consumo para apoio a pesquisa. O projeto já apresentou como primeiros resultados artigos publicados em conferências e está em fase de elaboração e execução de diversos experimentos.

Abstract: Search systems have been proposed by industry and academy in order to facilitate software component search. Despite that, several proposed systems adopt inadequate and inefficient indexing techniques. In such a context, this paper presents an asset indexing technique that adopts a representation model based on semi-structured data. As the main contribution, the proposed technique enables to efficiently retrieve software assets taking into account their syntactic and semantic properties.

On this Thursday, August 27, Silvio Meira, Full Professor of Software Engineering at Informatics Center/UFPE, Coordinator of the INES (National Institute of Science and Technology for Software Engineering) and Chief Scientist of CESAR (Center for Advanced Studies and Systems of Recife), accedes in the Brazilian Council for Economic and Social Development of the Brazilian Presidency (CDES).
CDES (www.cdes.gov.br) is an organ of the civil society mostly advising the Presidency, wich the role of facilitating the formation of political judgments of the government as an representative institution of the society. Council members are appointed by a formal act of the President, for two years. CDES includes employees, entrepreneurs, social movements, government and expressive personalities in various sectors.
Silvio Meira is the first member of the CDES that, academic, is a professor at the broad area of information and communication technologies. In CDES, Prof. Silvio Meira will devote his time and effort to discussions, proposals and projects in the areas of innovation, entrepreneurship and relationship industry-university.

The paper entitled “Notificação Baseada em Contexto como Apoio à Gerência e Coordenação em Equipes de Software Distribuídas” was accepted to be published at the VI Brazilian Symposium of Collaborative Systems (SBSC 2009).
The paper is a result of the master in Computer Science of the student Ana Paula Chaves from the Universidade Estadual de Maringá (UEM), advised by Prof. Elisa Huzita. In this work, the CEManTIKA framework, proposed by Prof. Vaninha Vieira (UFBA) in her PhD Thesis at the UFPE, is used to design a notification system.
This work is also a result of the collaboration that occurs between the UEM, under the coordination of Prof. Elisa Huzita, with the INES context group (from the project “Models, Processes and Tools for the Development of Context-Sensitive Systems).
The paper presents a event notification manager, named DiSEN-Notifier that uses context to send information to group members in a distributed software development environment. Context is used to support identifying which individuals are interested in a given information, keeping users aware of changes in the moment they occur.

INES researchers will participate at Working IEEE/IFIP Conference on Software Architecture 2009 & European Conference on Software Architecture (WICSA).
The conference, the main one in the software architecture area, the project members will present the paper Experimenting a Process to Design Product Line Architectures, from Ednaldo Dilorenzo, Eduardo Almeida and Silvio Meira. The paper will be presented at 2nd Workshop on Empirical Assessment in Software Architecture.
This activity is part of the project “An Investigation of Methods, Processes, Tools, and Metrics for the Development of Software Product Lines (SPL)” — in portuguese, Uma Investigação de Processos, Ferramentas e Métricas para o Desenvolvimento de Linhas de Produto de Software.

Enfim, é um espaço de criação e inovação, interação e reuso — em suas acepções mais amplas!
Em 2009, vou participar da OOPSLA para acompanhar eventos e conhecer pessoas, resultados e tendências em tópicos relacionados às minhas
atividades de ensino, pesquisa e desenvolvimento, tais como, aspectos, objetos,
tdd, metodologias ágeis, padrões,
arquitetura, evolução, linguagens dinâmicas,
frameworks para aplicações web,
DSLs e programação generativa, pensando, especialmente, (i) nas atividades de projetos ligados ao INES, (ii) nas atividades de ensino, (iii) na intenção de pensar e estruturar um livro sobre design evolucioário de software (uma das metas no INES), e finalmente, devagar-e-sempre (in the praise of slow) (iv) no pos-doc que planejo realizar em 2010; ainda não sei ao certo onde, mas provavelmente combinando aspectos + arquitetura + DSLs + transformações.
Durante a OOPSLA pretendo registrar insights e momentos (
meet me here) e elaborar um relatório sobre assuntos, eventos, ferramentas, pessoas e
personagens interessantes da OOPSLA 2009 para compartilhar com participantes e colaboradores do INES.

INES researcher Daniel Lucrédio was invited to present his work “Evaluating the impact of MDD in software reuse”, in a workshop on Model-driven Development and Software Product Lines evolution, in a local workshop at PUC-RIO. The workshop will have two important keynote speakers: Jon Whittle and Jaejoon Lee (Lancaster University – UK).

No período de 24/08 a 04/09 a Profa. Leila Silva da UFS visitará o CIN/UFPE, para desenvolver atividades referentes ao projeto Ferramentas de Evolução e Refatoração Automática. Na ocasião, proferirá um seminário sobre Confinamento de Dados no CIN/UFPE, dia 31/08. Ainda aproveitando a visita, Leila fará uma visita técnica à UFPB referente ao projeto Desenvolvimento Distribuído orientado a Linhas de Produtos de Software, no dia 01/09.

O artigo A Morphological-Rank-Linear Approach for Software Development Cost Estimation foi aceito como artigo completo para publicação e apresentação na 21st IEEE International Conference on Tools with Artificial Intelligence (ICTAI´2009, http://ictai2009.njit.edu/).A conferência acontecerá em novembro, em New Jersey, USA. A conferência é uma das mais importantes e tradicionais na área de aplicações de inteligência artificial e inclui o tema “aplicações em engenharia de software”.
O artigo propõe um novo método para estimativa de esforço de software e mostra que ele é superior a outros métodos recentemente reportados na literatura. O artigo está relacionado a uma das metas do projeto “Estimativa de esforço de projeto de software com técnicas de inteligência computacional e estatística“, coordenado pela UFRPE.
