INES at Brazilian Symposium on Software Engineering

The paper “One More Step to Understand the Bug Report Duplication Problem” by Yguaratã Cerqueira Cavalcanti, Paulo Anselmo da Silveira Mota, Eduardo Santana de Almeida, Daniel Lucrédio, Carlos Eduardo Albuquerque da Cunha, and Silvio Romero de Lemos Meira, was accepted as at the Brazilian Symposium on Software Engineering, event co-located with the Brazilian Conference on Software: Theory and Practice (CBSoft), 2010.

This activity is part of the project  “An Investigation of Methods, Processes, Tools, and Metrics for the Development of Software Product Lines (SPL)” — in portuguese, Uma Investigação de Processos, Ferramentas e Métricas para o Desenvolvimento de Linhas de Produto de Software.

INES at 4th European Conference on Software Architecture (ECSA)

A INES researcher, Dr. Eduardo Almeida, will be at the 4th European Conference on Software Architecture (ECSA) attending workshops related to Software Ecosystems and Variability in Software Product Line Architectures. This activity is part of the project  An Investigation of Methods, Processes, Tools, and Metrics for the Development of Software Product Lines (SPL) — in portuguese, Uma Investigação de Processos, Ferramentas e Métricas para o Desenvolvimento de Linhas de Produto de Software.

INES at Journal Software and Systems Modeling

INES had a paper accepted at Software and Systems Modeling Journal with the paper: MOOGLE: A Metamodel-Based Model Search Engine, from Daniel Lucrédio, Renata Pontin de Mattos Fortes and Jon Whittle.

The paper presents a model-based search engine and it is part of the project “An Investigation of Methods, Processes, Tools, and Metrics for the Development of Software Product Lines (SPL)”.

Marcos Paulo Paixão is going to continue to develop his IC research in clustering in distributed data repository in the context of the project Distributed Development Oriented to Software Line Products.

Abstract: Several Message-Oriented Middleware (MOM) for mobile platforms are available, each with their own propriety functionality to attend specific application scenarios. At present, a significant limitation of such platforms is that they typically support only a single, pre-defined, messaging style (e.g., publish/subscribe). This restriction limits the scope of platforms in that they cannot easily accommodate, or easily be extended to accommodate, richer or more specialized forms of interaction. Based on these observations, this paper presents a customizable middleware platform that abstracts basic messaging features adapted for the constraints of mobility, and admits specific specializations and extensions. Its feasibility is demonstrated by deriving implementations for five distinct messaging styles. The evaluation results show that most part of the code is common among messaging styles, and thus the customization process exploited is an effective approach for building highly flexible and optimized middleware solutions.

INES at 11th IEEE IRI

INES will participate of the 11th IEEE International Conference on Information Reuse and Integration (IRI 2010).

The paper “A Requirements Engineering Process for Software Product Lines” from the authors Danuza Neiva, Eduardo Almeida and Silvio Meira has been accepted as a short paper  and the paper “A Context-Aware Proactive Source Code Search and Retrieval Tool” from the authors Eduardo Cruz, Eduardo Almeida and Silvio Meira as a poster.

The conference will be in August 2010. Both papers are results of the project “An Investigation of Methods, Processes, Tools, and Metrics for the Development of Software Product Lines (SPL)”.

INES at IEEE International EDOC Conference

INES will participate of the 14th IEEE International EDOC Conference, The Enterprise Computing Conference, in Vitória-ES, Brazil. The paper “The Analysis Activity of a Systematic SOA-based Architecture Process” has been accepted as a full paper at the SoEA4EE 2010 – Service-oriented Enterprise Architecture for Enterprise Engineering workshop. The authors are José Jorge L. Dias Jr., Eduardo Almeida e Silvio Meira. The conference will be in October, 2010.

This paper is a result of the project “An Investigation of Methods, Processes, Tools, and Metrics for the Development of Software Product Lines (SPL)”.

INES presence at SAFECOMP 2010

Alexandre Mota, lecturer of the Centro de Informática-UFPE, member of the project Combining techniques of formal methods and testing for the construction of real-time embedded systems of INES, has the paper entitled “Evolving a Safe System Design Iteratively” accepted for publication at the 29th International Conference on Computer Safety, Reliability and Security (SAFECOMP 2010). Dr. Gledson Elias is going to visit UFS in June

Dr. Gledson Elias from Federal University of Paraiba (UFPB) is going to visit Federal University of Sergipe (UFS) from 9th to 11th June to work with Dr. Leila Silva. During this visit, professors Gledson and Leila are going to discuss the results of current collaborations on the adoption of clustering algorithms as a technique for reducing the storage requirements when indexing large repositories of software components.
