INES visits Universidad de Sevilla

Emanuela Cartaxo will visit Dr. María José Escalona Cuaresma in Dpto. Lenguajes y Sistemas Informáticos at Universidad de Sevilla from 15th to 17th December, 2010 to performe case studies in the scope of NDT suite (http://www.iwt2.org/en/ndt-suite.php) using a strategy developed in the context of this project.

UFBA researcher visits UFCG

Christina Chavez (LES-UFBA) visits UFCG researchers from November 30 to December 1st, 2011, to discuss ongoing research in the context of the project “Models, Techniques and Tools for Software Evolution”.

The Software Productivity Laboratory Network renewing and provide new scholarships for undergraduate students

The INES project “Software Productivity Laboratory Network” is renewing the Scientific Initiation scholarship for two undergraduate students of the Training Program in Software Testing and, the same time, providing further three Scientific Initiation scholarships for the new students of the program. The students will receive the scholarship for six months, and during this period, they will perform of activities related to area of Software Testing, experiencing, through the actual projects, key concepts and processes of software testing, including planning, design, implementation, analysis of test results, and automation tools to support the testing process.

INES at the 1st INCT evaluation meeting (CNPq/MCT)

From 23 to 24/Nov/2010, INES attended the 1st meeting of monitoring and evaluation of the INCT program (CNPq/MCT).

INES project acquires software license

The INES project “Evidence-Based Software Engineering” is acquiring a software license for NVivo 9.

NVivo is a software that supports working with unstructured information like documents, surveys, audio, video and pictures.

INES at DBKDA 2011

INES researchers had a paper accepted at 3rd International Conference on Advances in Databases, Knowledge, and Data Applications (DBKDA 2011), St. Maarten, The Netherlands Antilles, January 2011.

Publication’ details are: Marcos Paulo Paixão, Leila Silva, Talles Brito, Glêdson Elias. “Large Software Component Repositories into Small Index Files”. In Proceedings of the 3rd International Conference on Advances in Databases, Knowledge, and Data Applications.

Abstract: Software component repositories have adopted semi-structured data models for representing syntactic and semantic features of handled assets. Such models imply challenges to search engines, which are related to the design of indexing techniques that ought to be efficient in terms of storage space requirements. In such a context, by applying clustering techniques before indexing component repositories, this paper proposes an approach for reducing the number of assets in the repository, and consequently, the size of index files. Based on an illustrative repository, outcomes indicate a significant optimization in the number of assets to be indexed.

4th Meeting of the Project Tests Generation, Selection, Prioritization and Processing Product Line

The students Francisco Gomes de Oliveira Neto, Emanuela Cartaxo Gadelha and Ana Emília Victor Barbosa from UFCG will attend the fourth project’s meeting, on November 26 in Recife.

Member of UFCG group visits CIn/UFPE

Dr. Rohit Gheyi from Federal University of Campina Grande is going to visit CIn/UFPE from 15th to 16th November to work with Paulo Borba and Krzysztof Czarnecki on Refactoring Software Product Lines.

INES Researchers win Best Paper Award at SBES 2010

The paper “Identifying Code Smells with Multiple Concern Views”, from  Glauco Carneiro (UFBA) and colleagues from UFBA, PUC-Rio and UFMG, won the Best Paper Award from the XXIV Brazilian Conference on Software Engineering.

Who will attend ICSE 2011?

ICSE 2011 – the 33rd International Conference on Software Engineering  —  will take place in Honolulu, from May 21st to 28th, 2011. Prof. Nenad Medvidović from the University of Southern California, who has recently visited several universities in Brazil, with the support of  a INES visiting researcher grant, is the Program Co-Chair.
